This week on VSRF Live, we welcome investigative author John Leake, known for examining medical history and the cultural forces shaping modern medicine.
Leake serves as Vice President and Secretary of the McCullough Foundation, where he collaborates closely with cardiologist and epidemiologist Dr. Peter McCullough on research, writing, and public education related to COVID-19 policy, vaccine safety, and medical ethics.
Since 2021, Leake has been a prominent voice reassessing the pandemic response and the broader vaccine enterprise. He is the primary author of The Courage to Face COVID-19 and co-author of Vaccines: Mythology, Ideology, and Reality, which explores how vaccination evolved from a contested medical technology into a powerful public narrative.
Leake holds a master’s degree and studied history and philosophy with the late British philosopher Roger Scruton. He spent fourteen years living in Vienna working as a freelance author and translator. Earlier in his career as a true-crime writer, he studied the history of forensic science and how institutions investigate, and sometimes avoid investigating, contested evidence.
In this episode, John joins Livio Sanchez to explore a central question: How did vaccines move from a medical intervention open to debate into nearly untouchable dogma, and what does that shift mean for science, public trust, and medical freedom?
We’ll discuss:
The origins of vaccine mythology
Why criticism often triggers moral outrage rather than scientific debate
The role of government, media, and industry in shaping vaccine narratives
How the COVID-19 era accelerated the transformation of vaccine policy
The granting this week of a court order blocking recent changes by HHS Secretary, Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., to the vaccine schedule and to the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices.
Leake has spent the past several years documenting the pandemic response and the institutional dynamics behind it. His work raises fundamental questions about how scientific authority is formed, and what happens when questioning it becomes unacceptable.
Join us Thursday on VSRF Live for a conversation about history, science, and the boundary between evidence and belief.
